PepperdineInitial Thoughts - This week’s meeting was mediocre only a few members could make it. I feel that I am partly to blame because we were not able to get the agendas and meeting information posted in advance. Maybe there’s a correlation here…hmmm.

Attendance (9): Limited turnout. There were 5 representatives from Web & Multimedia Services, 1 from the School of Law, 2 from Public Policy, 0 from GSEP, 0 from Advancement, 1 from University Libraries, 0 from Seaver, and 0 from GSBM.

Agenda/Topics:

- Video @ Pepperdine (Matt/Ed)
- Web Technologies - Digital Commons, Web Conferencing (Matt/Ed/Ryan)
- Recent University Sites (Ed)
- Department/School Updates (All)

My process/reflections: Yes, the turnout was low for this week’s meeting. I am seeing a connection between the attendance and my preparation for the meeting. For this meeting, Ed and I were not able to get together to really hash out the agenda and share it with the group. In my opinion, this resulted in a really low turnout. We are also rapidly approaching the end of the semester for several of the schools…the committee members are pretty crazed right now with work.

Although, I felt a bit under-whelmed by the turnout, the discussion was great at the meeting. I’m still sensing a genuine commitment to collaboration amongst the groups as they discuss their initiatives and share ideas. I’m finding this pretty rewarding. On the flip side of things, I’m sensing a major plateau in terms of committee contribution in the collaboration space. the majority of the posts are from Ed and I as we share information about the meetings. We’ll see how things develop for the next meeting.

I decided to hold off on the luncheon concept because of the low turnout. I think i’m going to pull together another zoomerang survey to get some additional feedback at the end of cycle 2. more to come…
